It's been a while since my last blog, mainly because we have been so busy help companies take their next step online and rescuing more and more "cow boy" web development projects.
The search phrase, web development australia, yields 103,000,000 google results the way I just searched. That is an amazing amount of competition for business related web sites and subsequent development work.
Where does one begin? How can someone find the actual truth? If I was just starting out in the industry again I wouldn't know who to believe and where to turn.
Does Microsoft know what they are doing? Surely not, arguably their search engine was around when Google built their unbeliveable empire.
What about the advertising companies and the dedicated web marketing companies that know very little about the software that drives best practice and are more concerned with CTR's, CPM impressions and where to place another corporate spend.
Are the big companies getting real conversions from online advertising or is a case of the "we'd better play in that channel because everyone else is" type attitude. Not from the figures I have seen.
Search engine optimisers have their place but are they demonstrating conversion value for money? Should your site be well optimised? Yes but why?
PHP Vs .Net, open source Vs Microsoft, supported applications vs non supported.....
Glad I'm not at the beginning again.
