Google - making a killing - SEO makes sense

Clients ask me all the time - when should I pay for adwords (PPC) and when should I pay for SEO? The answer is simple you should be doing both in a balanced and structured way.

Ask yourself - are you happy paying $5.00 per click? No - neither am I - so instead we rank very highly in the organic section of the search results.

It's funny - in 2004 a federal government department (shall remain unnamed) paid us to run their Adwords campaign. The brief was such that they had thousands to spend in 3 months on some very popular keywords. Of course back then, cost per click had a small demand and so we struggled spending hundreds of dollars on targeted campaigns such as "business" yet alone thousands :-)

Today on those same keywords and phrases we could spend thousands in one day. Even bidding hundreds of dollars on some words. The real winner here is Google. Other winners are the search engine optimisers (SEOers) and search engine marketers.

Both strategies are valid however common sense should prevail.

Commerce Queensland - Platform Interactive lends a hand with TeamVodfone

The Commerce Queensland networking event held at the Sofitel in Brisbane on July 5th 2007 had 165 people register.

Platform Interactive was able to secure Craig Lowndes, Jamie Whincup & Peter Jamieson from Triple Eight Race Engineering to present about the V8 Supercar season so far.

In addition to having the guys come along we managed to secure a signed Team Vodafone T-Shirt combined with PPQ's donation of the 3 personal number plates "TRP 08" that was framed and auctioned. I was asked to nominate a charity and of course in line with our sponsorship of Variety Australia.

The auction raised $5,000 for the unique auction item. What a great success.

The picture (right) shows the Platform Logo is on the "splitter" of the race car. In the background I am presenting the benefit analysis of the teamvodafone.com project so far.
